Great white shark superpowers 🦈

With Diane the shark starring in Pixar’s Hoppers, here are some fun great white facts:

They can feel electricity! Great whites have a sixth sense that detects tiny electrical signals - even the heartbeat (about a billionth of a volt) of a fish buried under sand in total darkness! ⚡️
They’re incredibly fast! They can hit 35 mph and launch 10 feet out of the water - not bad considering they weigh up to 5,000 pounds. Seals beware! 🦈
They smell blood… but not like in the movies. Yes, they can detect a drop of blood in 25 gallons of water, but they can tell fish blood from human blood - and we’re too bony and low-fat to be interesting. 🩸
Flip them over and they freeze. When turned upside down, they become temporarily paralyzed. Scientists still don’t know why. 😴
They’re not cold-blooded killers - they’re warm-blooded (kind of)! They can keep their bodies 20°F warmer than the surrounding water, giving them faster reflexes and more power than cold-blooded fish. 🔥

Bonus: Their eyes are actually blue, not black - and their vision is much better than scientists once thought.

Why do we get brain freezes? 🥶

The cold makes the blood vessels constrict, then rapidly dilate. 🩸
Nearby nerves send an emergency “something’s wrong!” signal. ⚠️
