5 FACTS

Badger cities older than America? 🦡

Badgers may look small, but their underground lives are impressive. Check out these fun facts:

  1. Badgers can pause their pregnancies for up to 10 months! This helps ensure babies arrive when food is easier to find. 👶

  2. Badgers create underground “cities” called setts. These include sleeping rooms, nurseries, and bathrooms. Badgers regularly clean their homes, bringing in fresh grass for bedding. The largest known sett in the UK has been lived in continuously since the Middle Ages! 🏰

  3. American badgers sometimes hunt together with coyotes. 🐺

  4. Badgers are very social! They groom each other, share food, and defend their group. Females form especially strong bonds, often staying together for life. 😎

  5. Badgers are a keystone species! Their tunnels mix soil to spread nutrients, help plants grow, and they help control rodent and insect populations. 🌱

DID YOU KNOW?

Decaf isn’t decaf? ☕

66% of Americans drink an average of 3 cups of coffee a day.

Let’s bust a few coffee myths:

  1. “Dark roast has more caffeine.”

Nope. Roasting burns off caffeine, so light roast actually has slightly more! ⚫

  2. “Coffee dehydrates you.”

False. The water in coffee more than makes up for its mild diuretic effect. So yes, drinking coffee contributes to your daily hydration! 💧

  3. “Decaf has zero caffeine.”

Not quite. Decaf usually has 2-5 mg of caffeine per cup.

  4. “Coffee stunts your growth.”

There’s no evidence for this - but kids still shouldn’t drink it! It can upset their stomachs. 🧒
