Logic Puzzle: How many times do the hands of a clock overlap in a day? 🕰️
Hint:
The hour and minute hands only overlap when the minute hand “catches” the hour hand (and that doesn’t always happen at the top of each hour).
Solution:
The hands overlap 11 times every 12 hours, or 22 times in a day.
The minute hand moves much faster and goes all the way around the clock every hour.
The hour hand moves slowly and only moves a little each hour.
Because the minute hand has to “chase” the hour hand, it catches it a little later each time and not exactly at the top of each hour.
